Brooms are a symbol of good luck around the world. They sweep away bad fortune and protect against evil.

A new broom brings good luck and harmony to a home. A broom, salt, and bread completes a traditional welcoming gift:

• Bread – That this house may never know hunger.
• Salt – That life may always have flavor.
• Broom – To sweep away troubles.

The broom can be used symbolically for protection or to represent specific energy, but it can also be used in everyday household cleaning.  A witch believes her home is a reflection of the body and one’s emotional state.

Cleaning the house is symbolic for the cleansing of the self.

A broom can also be hung over your home’s front window or door to prevent gossip, unwanted guests, or curses.
